Fiction

Short stories- "The Pedestrian" by Ray Bradbury

"Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury

"The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst

This week we read through Ray Bradbury's short story, "A Sound of Thunder". Students created Say, Mean, Matter charts searching for compound sentences. If the work was not completed in class on Friday, it was assigned for weekend homework. I have attached both the Say, Mean, Matter chart and the short story for reference.

Remember, Monday is Labor Day, and there will be no school. Have a fun and safe weekend!

Poetry

"The Odyssey" by Homer

"The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe

Various short poems

Within poetry, we are studying various forms of figurative language as well as looking into sentence types. Below, I have added some of the note pages that have been provided to students to help guide them through the unit.
