"Welcome to Hertenberger's Hunters second grade classroom."
We have lots of fun and exciting things coming up this year an can't wait to share the love of learning with your children. I would like to share a little about myself with you as we begin our journey into this awesome year. I graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1991, later I graduated from University of Clear Lake in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have taught second grade for twelve years and it is my passion. I am married with three sons who attend Santa Fe High School as well as Junior High.
Other Important Info for Parents
Drop Off/Arrival - When students are dropped off, they will go sit in the hallway outside of our classroom, D-3. If your child eats breakfast at school, then he/she will need to go straight to the lunch room at this time. There are monitors in the hallways that will help your child find our classroom/lunch room and monitor them until 8:20. If your child rides a bus, I will meet them on the bus pad for the first week of school and remind them how to get to our classroom.
Binders - Please place any notes for me in your child's binder pocket in their folder as well as money for the cafeteria or any special event. If your child's transportation changes, I need a written note telling me how they will get home for that day or week. This is for your child's safety. Also, if your child is a car rider, please note if he/she will be a walk-up or a drive-up.
Please check your child's binder nightly, there will be the Peek of the week, along with homework and important messages for you to see. Please sign your child's behavior calendar each night as well so that we are able to keep in contact about your child's behavior on a daily basis.
Homework will be sent home weekly on Friday so students have a full week to complete and turn in the following Friday. It is important to complete homework every week because it will be taken as part of your child's work ethic grade on their report card. Graded papers will be sent home weekly, so please check your child's binder for these papers as well.
