Welcome back to the 2019 - 2020 school year!! I am very excited to begin the year, so let's get ready to learn!!
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Lorae Honings and my son and I have lived in Santa Fe for over 14 years. In 1998, I graduated with honors (cum laude) from the University of Houston with a BS in Chemistry and a Minor in Math. I worked in the plants in Bayport, as a chemist for many years, but my calling to become a teacher was always in the back of my mind. In 2002, I finally decided to become a teacher!! I began working as a math teacher in Dickinson ISD and then in 2012, I proudly accepted a position with SFJH. That was definitely one of the best decisions I ever made.
I have taught 8th grade Math for 12 years and high school Math for 4 years. I am a firm believer in creating a class culture in which students feel safe, productive and included. I am always interested in finding new ways to create the best environment for student success.
I do have high expectations for my students. I expect students to remained focused during class, to take notes when needed, to complete each and every homework assignment, and turn it in on time. I do allow class time to answer questions over homework.
I encourage collaboration with parents to solve issues and answer questions. I can be reached at email@example.com and the direct number to my room is 409-925-9353. Please never hesitate to contact me. After all, we all want the same thing for the kids - a successful and productive year!!!
