Jennifer Cunningham

Personal Education Background:

After graduating from Alvin High School, I attended community college in Alvin.  I continued to further my education and  attended University of Houston: Clear Lake. While being at UHCL, I earned my bachelor’s degree in biological science, my teaching certification, and my master's degree in History.

Personal Interested:

Faith, family, and my pets are very important to me.  Faith is my center pole in my life and helps keep me grounded in what is important in life.  As a child, my amazing mother and father showed me the importance of family time.  Our family loved going to the park, eating dinner together, bowling, putt-putt, watching movies, or playing board games. As an adult, I enjoy spending time with my parents and my brother doing similar activities as we did when I was a child.  In addition, I have shown the importance of family time to my daughter, as making memories with her is very special to me.  Pets are part of my family and are special to me.  Over the years, I have had gerbils, hamsters, turtles, dogs, fish, a horse, and even fostered a kitten for a year.  Currently, I have 3 dogs, 2 fish tanks, and 2 Betta Fish tanks.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher and have taught in districts in the Houston area.  In the past 20+ years, I have taught a wide range of courses including Biology, Aquatic Science, Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P), Astronomy, Earth and Space, Food Science, Forensic Science and Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC).  This year is my 10th year at Santa Fe High School. 

This year, I will be teaching Aquatic Science.  I have taught this course for over 10 years.  Aquatic Science students will learn about the animals in the ocean and the impact of the positive and negative impacts of human interaction on animals in the ocean. 

Teaching is a special gift.  It truly gives me joy to provide students with information that allows them to be well-rounded citizens who will help shape the future generations of the world.  If there is anything I can assist you with or if you have any questions, please contact me so I can further help the student achieve success.

Tutorials in Room G105

• Every day, our bell schedule has built-in tutorial program time called “Win Time.”  Students can focus on tutorials for specific topics, make up assignments, and complete projects. 
• Aquatic Science students are encouraged to use Win Time to complete missing assignments and receive clarifications on topics within the course.
• Miss Cunningham will offer after-school tutorials for students who need time outside of Win Time.  If a student needs to come to after-school tutorials, please make an appointment with Miss Cunningham
