Welcome, Koala Parents & Guardians!

My name is Kari Keown, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year!

This is my 14th year in education and my fourth year with Santa Fe ISD. I am certified in both general and special education, as well as ESL, and I love contributing to the lives of little ones in my community!

A little bit about me... After graduating from the American School of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, I earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Denver in Colorado. Once I moved to Texas in 2001, I began pursuing a teaching career at the University of Houston - Clear Lake, while working at one of my favorite stores- Half Price Books.

My husband and I have two wonderful daughters who are in 5th grade and 3rd grade at RJW, and we have two black labs. We love living in Santa Fe!

A few of my favorite things... Colors: green and gold (of course!), Drinks: Coke and Topo Chico, Food: Tex-Mex, Fast Food: Sonic, Desserts: Blue Bell, Candy: Twix, Movies: The Sound of Music and Lonesome Dove, Books: history, British detective mysteries, and the Harry Potter series, Hobbies: reading, drawing, playing Tetris and badminton, traveling, spending time with family, and ALL THINGS KINDERGARTEN!

Communication between home and school is essential. My conference time is from 12:25-1:10 on M/Th/F. You may call me at 409-927-3488, email me at kari.keown@sfisd.org, send me a message on Class Dojo, or send a note in your child's daily folder.
