3rd Nine Weeks

Reading/Writing

Procedural Texts(How to): Students dig deep into reading and writing procedural texts. 

Persuasive Texts:  Students learn the author's purpose and audience of a procedural text.  They will write persuasive texts, taking a view point (opinion) and coming up with supporting details (reasons) to back up their view point with facts.  

Writing a Friendly Letter: Students learn the five parts of a friendly letter and write letters for a purpose.

Math

2 digit x 1 digit multiplication: Students learn how to use the distributive property in order to find products using various strategies including the traditional algorithm, partial products, and box method.

Personal Financial Literacy: Students learn the basics of economics and how to make smart financial choices.

Algebraic Relationships: Students will focus on number pairs and their relationships in function tables and how to solve to find missing factors.  (input/output)

Multi-Step Story Problems: Students focus on problem solving strategies that involve more than one step to get the answer.  These story problems cover all operations.

Geometry: Student focus on two dimensional and three dimensional shapes, their attributes, and perimeter and area.  

Fractions: We continue our study of fractions, focusing on equivalent fractions and comparing and ordering fractions.
