Yearbook will be a course designed around photography. As a class, we will celebrate our schools culture and document this academic school year.

Course Goals:

  • Learn and develop technical skills in various artistic mediums.
  • Ability to utilize visual communication as a means of self-expression.
  • Develop rendering and compositional skills in more mature synthesis of elements.
  • Incorporate research and written personal reflection into projects.
  • Develop a beginner ability to analyze and speak about art.

Required Materials:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Laptop
  • Sketchbook

Course Expectations: Students are responsible for in-class studio work, participation during in-class activities, studio preparation, clean-up, and weekly sketchbook assignments.  Students are expected to come to class on time and be prepared for every class.  Students are expected to plan artwork, put forth good effort in creating that work, manage their studio/working time appropriately, complete the assignment, and turn assignment in on time.  Students are expected to do their own work, unless working on a group activity, and are responsible for adherence to copyright laws and SFISD Policy.

  • Students will attend class on time per their class schedule.
  • Students should participate responsibly. Raise your hand to speak.
  • Students should begin each class ready to engage and learn.
  • Students need a designated, distraction-free workspace to engage in learning.
  • Students will participate in class activities, discussions and assignments.
  • Students will follow the SFISD Student Code of Conduct and dress code guidelines.

Classroom Procedures: The amount of time you will have to complete each project is planned to coincide with the amount of class time given before the due date.  You should have enough studio time to complete each project in class.  The following is our usual class routine.
