Welcome to Mrs. O'Brien's reading intervention class, called Reading Lab! My class is formerly Read 180 and Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI). The new reading program combines the successful online tool Compass Learning, as well as comprehensive word strategies and lessons to help with decoding, fluency and reading comprehension.
With this program, I will pull students from their Acceleration class to work one-on-one with them to help them improve their reading skills. I will work with small groups, individual students, as well as have independent reading. We read stories, analyze, discuss, write, use letter/word manipulatives and more. We work to improve phonics skills to help with word recognition and build fluency. The ultimate goal of the program is to help students bridge gaps in their reading level.
I am excited about this new program, and I look forward to working with your child!
