Welcome to Mrs. O'Brien's reading intervention class, called Ready Set Read! My lessons are based on our Reading By Design curriculum. We also have small groups of students who will receive Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) lessons from our LLI aide Mrs. Runnels.  The program combines comprehensive word strategies and lessons to help with decoding, fluency and reading comprehension.

My class takes the place of an elective. I will work with small groups, individual students, as well as have independent reading. We read stories, analyze, discuss, write, use letter/word manipulatives and more. We work to improve phonics skills to help with word recognition and build fluency. The ultimate goal of the program is to help students bridge gaps in their reading level.

I am excited about our new school year, and I look forward to working with your child!
