Criminal Justice Classes for 2021-2022 School Year

1) The Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security course introduces students to professions in law enforcement, protective services, corrections, firefighting, and emergency management services and the industry's skills. Students will examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, corrections, private security, and protective agencies of fire and emergency services. (2-Classes)

Target group 9th & 10th-grade students.

2) The Law Enforcement I course is an overview of the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. Students will understand the role of constitutional law at local, state, and federal levels, the U.S. legal system, criminal law, law enforcement terminology, and the crime classification and elements. (2-Classes)

Target group 10th & 11th-grade students.

3) The Law Enforcement II course develops the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for a law enforcement career. Students will understand ethical and legal responsibilities, patrol procedures, first responder roles, telecommunications, emergency equipment operations, courtroom testimony, and much more to enforce the law. (1-Class)

Target group 11th & 12th-grade students.

New Course for Law, Public Safety Corrections, and Security Pathway

4) The Practicum in Law, Public Safety Corrections, and Security course uses a structured and scientific approach to investigating crimes of assault, abuse and neglect, domestic violence, accidental death, homicide, and the psychology of criminal behavior. Students will learn terminology and investigative procedures related to a crime scene, questioning, interviewing, criminal behavior characteristics, truth detection, and various scientific procedures used to solve crimes. Students will achieve a HIGH SCHOOL/ INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION in Emergency Telecommunicator or Commissioned Security Officer Level II.  Equipment operations, courtroom testimony, and much more that goes into the enforcement of the law. Target group 12th grade students.
