Hello!

 Welcome to RJW elementary school, I'm Mrs. McDowell, also known as, Ms. Nelson (I got married over the Summer). This is my 6th year teaching 5th grade. I teach social studies and science. I am from Santa Fe and graduated college from Sam Houston State University. I love to hike, garden, travel, and relax by the pool with my family, friends, and cats, Guacamole and Pinto!

 I am a firm believer in making content engaging so we will learn through room transformations, dressing up, exploring, dancing, singing and more. I love building relationships, so please feel free to give me extra-curricular schedules and I will be sure to show up! I communicate through Classroom Dojo weekly and I am always open to conferences. I am transparent, honest, and firmly believe that your child’s learning is a team effort, so let’s be a team!
